1. What this is
Paper Trail Ohio ("we") organizes public records from the Belmont County Recorder, the Belmont County Auditor, the county GIS office and state and federal agencies so they are easier to search. We are not affiliated with Belmont County or any government office.
2. It is a summary of public records, not advice
Everything here, including chain of title summaries, mortgage and lien summaries, hazard screenings, comparable sales and lists, summarizes what the public indexes and maps show on the date shown. It is not a title search, title insurance, an abstract certified by us, a legal opinion, an appraisal, a survey, or an engineering, environmental, flood or insurance determination. Records can be missing, late, misindexed or wrong at the source. "No release found" means we did not find one in the county index, not that a debt is still owed. "No mine found on the state's maps" does not mean there is no mine. Check the recorded documents and use a qualified professional before you buy, sell, lend, build or sue.
3. Uses that are not allowed
You may not use anything from this site:
- to decide anyone's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing or a rental, or for any purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act;
- to stalk, harass, threaten or locate a person who does not want to be found, including law enforcement officers, judges and their families;
- to copy the site in bulk by automated means, or to resell our data except under a written licence;
- for anything unlawful, including discrimination in housing.
We may close an account or refuse an order that breaks these rules.
4. Accounts and memberships
Free use has daily limits. Pro and Team renew automatically every month or every year, whichever you chose at checkout, until you cancel, which you can do at any time from your account; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. The Week Pass is a single payment for 7 days and never renews. Team owners are responsible for the people they add.
5. Purchases and refunds
Lists, reports and files are delivered as downloads. If a file is wrong, empty or does not match what you ordered, tell us within 30 days and we will fix it or refund it in full. The price shown before you pay is the full price.
6. Limit of our liability
The site and everything sold on it are provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim about the site or a product is limited to the amount you paid us for that product, or for a membership, the amount you paid in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or lost-profit damages. A report is prepared only for the person who ordered it; no one else may rely on it.
7. Your information and removal
Anyone can ask us to leave them off mailing lists, hide their name, or remove their home for their safety at Remove or hide your information · Contact us: [email protected]. Safety requests are honoured within 72 hours. The county's own records remain public by law. What we collect about people who use the site is in the Privacy policy.
8. Changes and law
We may update these terms and will show the date of the last change at the top. Ohio law governs these terms, and any dispute belongs in the courts of Belmont County, Ohio.
